FPCC Certification

This certificate has been awarded to me by the FPCC First Peoples Cultural Council and acknowledges my kye7e Flora and I’s successful completion of 600+ hours of Secwepemctsín immersion. Just like any certification, it requires a lot of work. Some weeks we did up to 15 hours of immersion. After days like that, especially when we first started, my jaw was sore from moving it in ways I was not used to with the English alphabet. I was determined to learn, not only for my daughter and myself, but for our future generations to come.

I had many great memories with my kye7e while learning from her. I realize how lucky I am to have apprenticed under her. Unfortunately, she passed in November of 2022. It is important to learn form our elders and knowledge keepers while we can. From what knowledge I have acquired, I will naturally weave into my teaching.
