Walking in Two Worlds

I do believe it is important to incorporate All ways of Knowing and Being, as well as, Indigenous ways of Knowing and Being into the classroom to create a inclusive and diverse learning environment. I also believe it is important to teach children to successfully “walk in two worlds”. Walking in Two Worlds is like being pulled into two different directions. Sometimes these worlds overlap but they are never the same.

A lot of children can feel the affects of this. Its wanting to know your own culture and language but now knowing how to be apart of it, learn it, or speak it. That is why, as educators, it is important that we diversify our curriculum and invite guest speakers into our classroom from different occupations, backgrounds, and cultures, so that no students feels like they don’t belong.
